Starting to get trendy around here. Now that the technology is getting better we're seeing a lot more of these homes. They just come in and pour the foundation, black plastic, pink foam insulation, set their tubing and all other plumbing rough ins, pour their concrete, stamp per their design, and then frame it up.
I'm eager to get to do some hardwood in them. Some have tile, some have a combination of tile, carpet, hardwood, and even stamped concrete in some areas. These are mostly custom homes but I can see the spec home builders doing a few for a change in scenery.

Can anyone tell me what they prefer in a wet area for wall board, green board,dura-roc or hardy board, i've always used dura-roc, the big box guys were telling me the hardy board is better , I'm going to use it in a bathroom.
Thanks in advance.
Try to send these jobs overseas!!

This ought to be a no-brainer but it appears that everybody has gone waterbased.
I'm trying to hang 4X8 sheets of melamine tileboard on 2X4 framing, no fasteners as it is to be used as a dry- erase board for conferences.
First try was Liquid Nails Panel Adhesive - No Good. Took it back and bought LocTite brand construction adhesive, it worked better and then failed. It then dawned on me that the panel was absorbing the moisture in the sealant, causing the panel to expand and forcing the bond to fail. I was working the door panels first, so clamping was an option that worked. All of the remainder is in the field. I need something that is going to stick the first time and stay put.

I am wanting to have a new garage built and have questions about the concrete flooring and siding. Most use a slab floor, but I don't like it that well because the siding is so close to the ground that after a little while it seems like most of them start to rot and look like heck. Is having a stemwall that much more expensive so that it has some room to get it off the ground and also the 12 in. siding I was wondering about using something like 4 X 8 masonite panels. At least then if the bottom starts to swell and rot I can cut it off and patch in a new piece. Or is there a fairly simple way of removing the bottom row?

am in the proccess of remodeling my basement into a home office and I have some questions that I need help on. The walls currently are block and have 6 in of insultation that is lagged into the block and has a puffy apearance to it should I remove this and attach the walls to the block and use the styrofoam panels betwen the studs or should I leave the insultion on and build the walls out from there and attach the walls to the floor and upstairs subfloor. If a use the 1st one what would you recommed for the side walls 2x4 of 2x2 and if I use 2x2 how would I install the electrical Boxs. On the floor I would like to add a sub floor should i use 2x4 laying them flat so Im only loosing 2 in of ceiling height any other help you would have please let me know thanks

I am building a house in a remote village. The local workers built a 2-chanber septic tank in brick and concrete. I think I need to replace the brick wall separating the 2 chambers with one containing baffles.
How does one make baffles in poured concrete?
